Flaxseed Peanut Butter
We love using peanut butters that use just peanuts – no added fillers, sugar, or oils. In these types of peanut butters, it is natural for the natural oils to rise to the top of the jar and require stirring before use.
To minimize the need to stir (and to add more nutrition) we suggest adding 3-5 Tbsp of Manitoba Milling Smooth Whole Milled Flaxseed to the jar. The milled flaxseed will soak up the extra oils to prevent the need for stirring.
Gradually add in the milled flaxseed, 1 Tbsp at a time. Add in less if you prefer a runnier consistency and more if you need more fiber or omega 3s in your diet or like a slightly thicker consistency.
The milled flaxseed is incredibly soft and smooth and won’t alter the texture of the even the creamiest nut butters but will help to absorb the natural oils and limit the need to stir. Plus, it adds a natural source of ALA Omega-3s, dietary fiber, and plant-based protein.
