ToggleBenefits of Flaxseed
Flaxseeds are a nutritional powerhouse that can support wellness from head to toe. Flax is a good source of fiber which can help to regulate digestion, reduce constipation, and even regulate blood pressure. Flaxseeds are also rich in omega-3s, which can support heart health, lower triglycerides, and reduce inflammation. They can be especially useful if you are following a plant-based diet, because fish is usually known as a top source for omega-3s.

Flaxseeds are also a rich source of lignans, which can help maintain healthy blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Research also shows that lignans can support breast health.
These little seeds may be small, but they can still pack an extra punch of protein with 3 grams of protein per 15g serving of whole-milled flaxseed. As a bonus, you will be keeping the seasonal sniffles at bay because flax proteins can even support the immune system.

Whole Versus Whole-Milled Flaxseed
In short, if whole flaxseed is good, whole-milled flaxseed is great. Whole flaxseed can provide some extra fiber for your digestive tract, but there’s a chance it could pass through without your body getting a chance to absorb all the nutrients inside the seeds. Milled flaxseed is not only easier to digest, but milling breaks apart the seeds and preserves the nutrients so that they are readily available for your body to absorb.
Shoppers beware: Don’t be deceived by products labeled “flax meal.” These manufacturers press the flaxseeds to extract the oil to be sold as “flax oil,” and the remaining pieces of the seeds are sold as flax meal. This flax meal has been stripped of its polyunsaturated fats and omega-3s, so you won’t be able to receive the full benefits of natural flaxseed. We made this important distinction in our product names so that you know that you are only receiving whole flaxseeds, milled to perfection, and packed to preserve all those original nutrients.
Did you know? You can use it in baked goods substituting up to 50% of the flour without sacrificing palatability. Try it for yourself!
What Is Different About Manitoba Milling Co’s Whole-Milled Flaxseed?
So we may be a little biased, but that’s only because we know how hard we have worked to only bring you the best flaxseed for you and your family.
Our flaxseed is grown in the cool temperatures of the Canadian prairies. This climate makes the growing and storage conditions ideal so Manitoba Milling Co’s whole-milled flaxseed is often higher in omega-3s than flaxseed grown in the United States.

We take extra pride in our products because we use a proprietary pasteurization process that preserves the flaxseed’s nutrients from start to finish. This also means that our flaxseed will last longer in your pantry, so you don’t have to worry about buying whole and grinding your own — we’ll do everything for you so all you have to do is enjoy! We also grow and process our flaxseed mindfully to ensure that our whole-milled flaxseed remains gluten free.
Our treatment process uses only the best flaxseeds to produce a well-rounded, light flavor that blends smoothly into your favorite baked goods, smoothies, or any of our many recipes! It only takes two tablespoons a day to reap the many benefits of flaxseed, so consider it your next step in self care!
